Turkey Panini Sandwich

<$image id="20033"$>
Stopped by Whole Foods a couple minutes before they closed tonight to pick up some sourdough bread, Mexican artisinal tomatoes, sliced turkey, cheese and vidalia onions. I thick-cut the bread and added all of the ingredients. For a final touch I covered the top and bottom with some olive oil and smashed the whole thing in the George Foreman grill. Superb. Great ingredients and attention to preparation made this the best sandwich I've ever made. By far.

Hanging the Redwood

<$image id="20014"$>
Shiny dark one being moved from the mancave to the living room. Bigger one that looks like a Hawaiian island was sanded, waxed and hung today. Ordered these redwood specimens from California a while back. An action that triggered a long process of broken wood, UPS complaints, lessons in finishing and general projectery. Overall happy with the outcome... although the pictures are horrible... I may try to retake them with a better camera.

The darker shinier one was finished with a tung oil-based finished called Waterlox. Amazing finish that I used on my card-catalog-becomes-sink project. But I wasn't able to give it a dust-free environment to dry in. So it ended up less than perfect. Today I used a simple wax finish. It doesn't display the burl of the wood as much. But it keeps the piece lighter and more natural. I may redo the dark shiny one at some point in the future.

Mozzarella, Tomatoes, Basil and Olive Oil

<$image id="20007"$>
Been eating this a lot lately. Have tried all of the best tomatoes from Publix and Kroger. Finally bought the $5.99/lb Mexican artisinal tomatoes today. Wow... truly awesome! They're tender and tasty. Makes all the difference. Mozzarella is from Whole foods. Love this meal. My mother used to make it, sometimes adding avocado to spice things up, so to speak.

Using it as my keychain. Probably 1800s. Unique feature of this one is that the combination can be reset.

Instagram and FX Photo Editor

<$image id="19921"$>
Smartphones have camera apps. But there are advanced photo manipulation techniques these days. It's all about ball bearings. FX Photo Editor and Instagram are two that I'm playing with today. So far I like FX Photo Editor. But Instagram is a runaway hit on iPhone that just made it to Android today. Instagram is a photo sharing network that tries to get people sharing, liking, clicking, re-sharing, discussing, inviting and, well, hanging out with photos. I don't know... I'm jaded. I don't want to share my stuff on yet another network. I like FX Photo Editor. It allows me to enhance my photos and then do with them what I please. Simple example, when I send a photo from FX Photo Editor it sends, you know, the photo. When I send a photo from Instagram it sends a link. To their site. So that when the BS bizplan they pitched to investors fails they can slap ads, call them social marketing, and make enough money to justify an IPO or sellout to <insert Google/Yahoo/Apple/Facebook here>. Hey, they earned it. I got the app for free. But my actions don't have to fund some Silicon Valley punk's Lear jet. FX Photo Editor is much simpler. I paid $3.99 for the app. I get the photo manipulation I want. I can do with those photos what I please. Have I mentioned that I'm jaded? And, just so you know, I can sometimes spend way too much time writing about tiny things in life. Like what photo software I use on my phone.
