Spam is Getting Worse

I'm not bragging. I've had the same email
addresses hanging out in the cyber-wind for
the last nine years.

Spam is getting worse.

I tried the first line of defense.
This "technology" incorporated into
Microsoft Outlook. It's supposed to work.

It doesn't.

To its credit, it has worked nobly for the
last four years.

But in the last three months I have to
admit a certain embarrasment at my
technology of choice. It's not helping.

I do what it wants. Every time I see a
jumk email I expend the effort to mark is
as "evil junkmail." This effort on my part
is supposed to increase my quality of
digital life.

And it did.

For many years.

But now it isn't. Junk mail is getting
through like crazy. The inflection point
came a few months ago. I don't understand
it. If I did I'd be filtering it.

But apparently my defenses are outdated.
Filtering is from the 1990's.

I am left to struggle against spam.

I can't lobby such heavy ideological bombs
at it as others do. I have to admit that
it is not as evil as post office jumk mail
which wastes true physical resources like
trees.

Email junk email only wastes my time, which
is much less valuable than trees, but
annoying all the same.

I am hoping that someday this spam problem
will present me with a solution. Until
then.... I shall fight it....

And lose...
