Sphere of Privacy

Jeremy Zawodny has a piece about web logging where he says that:

Coworkers say things to me like "you can't blog this, but..." and "No way. If I tell you, it'll probably show up on your blog!"

This is a big issue that I've run into a lot. Generally speaking people don't mind/tolerate it when I post about them on the site. But sometimes they get uncomfortable with it.

I've always felt it's important to show them that they're in control of what gets posted to the site. To show people around me that I'm responsive to removing stuff from the site.

I don't want people to worry about whether or not I put stuff they've told me in confidence on the site.
