Blogging the Past
Another thought from Dominic's
entry is about whether or not to blog the past.
From his entry:
"I'll go through an old memorabilia box and jog the mind; think about things that happened years ago. I'm amazed at the things I forget - places I've been, people I've met, experiences I've had. Part of this is wanting to have a more vivid memory of those experiences. I want this blog to take on an air of nostalgia over time. "
So the question is, should he recount memories? I say Hell Yeah. I do this from time to time. I have a lot of pictures from childhood that I've tried to date and create web log entries from that time.
My dream is to have every memory that I can recount on the web log. I haven't yet invested the energy required to do so.
Maybe I need to add the ability to guestimate on the date/time of an entry. I can't remember the exact date/time of my first kiss. But I know it was with Molly Fagan behind the garage of our house on 150B Lee Road at West Point, NY. Which would have put it around 1987. And I believe she was wearing shorts so I'd put it in the summer. Maybe a fudge factor of +-2 months?
So, yes, I love the idea of blogging the past memories. And when you use
Reger.com to create your web log you will see those entries pop up on your Related Entries every now and then (sorry for the plug). I call this "Opening the Archive." Making past posts show up as related to current posts. Many web loggers let entries slide off of their web log and never see them again... or have to force themselves to look for them. I like being reminded casually from time to time.
Thanks again for the entry Dom!
