Weekend Plans: Sick and Stupid
My father called and asked what I'd be doing this weekend. I told him that "I'll either be sick or I'll be sick and stupid."
What I should do is rest. This means that I'll be "sick."
But I'm betting, based on past performance, that tomorrow morning I'll find myself, runny nose and all, on a bike at the Silver Comet trail head... which will make me "sick and stupid."
Every book out there tells me that I should rest. But in college I had mono when I ran my fastest 5 mile run (I forget the time... wasn't logging back then). The doctor had told me to stay in bed. That same week as the run I also went rock climbing at Sunset and did some pretty hard routes.
Historically I've been able to workout through sickness. And the workouts have made me feel better. Not sure what I'll feel up for tomorrow morning.
