Ooooh Baby! NASCAR Sunday!
With only two races to go seven cars could take the Nextel Cup! My car, the #48 Lowe's driven by Jimmie Johnson, is in 4th but only 48 points out of the lead. He, or any of the other top seven, could take up to 150+ points in this race. So it's tight. One of the tightest finishes in years.
Update 1:18PM: Pre-race coverage is on.
Update 1:43PM: Pre-race festivities are done. The race is just about to begin. Heather and I have relocated from upstairs to the living room. I have the computer on the coffee table so that I can watch the real-time Trackpass java application... shows a virtual track and the location of every racer on it. Very nice for commercial breaks and times when your car isn't getting the tv coverage it deserves.
Also planning on doing some online research into Tomcat's encapsulated version that allows me to package it with my app and pre-configure it for folks. Some forward-looking research.
Heather's on the couch next to me wrapped in the blanket. Pupper sits between us. Bear is on the floor at our feet. Bug is in the cage... he prefers to listen to the NASCAR races.
Update 2:06PM: We're racing! Jimmie's third and comfortably hanging out. Heather is already sound asleep next to me... as is Pupper... as is Bug... as is Bear.
Update 2:07PM: Newman screws the goat! Ha, I love it! It's great when he screws the goat early! Actually, not his fault... flat tire. He was driving hard for the lead when it flatted. He's a lap down now!
Update 4:07PM: We're 207 of 367 laps in. Jimmie's crew just F'd the goat in the A with a pit stop. A lug nut fell behind the rim and held them up. Jimmie's been leading all day and now he's in 11th after the pit stop. Rats. He'll work his way back. Plenty of time.
I took a bit of a nap after a self-induced white chocolate reese's peanut butter cup sugar coma. Before that I found a great article on embedding Tomcat. Doesn't look too complex and may give it a shot here in a few. Heather was out cold from the start until a few minutes ago whereupon she literally woke from a complete sleep and said "I'm hungry." Keeping with our theme of eating poorly this week, she's on her way to Arby's for some roast beef. Yummy.
I am so fat and losing fitness right now.
Update 4:28PM: Lap 248 of 367. Jimmie Johnson is back into third and gaining strong on the leaders. Nice. A caution to reel them in would be nice and then he could rock them. Getting really interesting here at the end.
Got a new java project up and running to do some of the embedding. Still not working but coming together. Heather's still not back yet with the Arby's. She took Pupper with her on the trip.
I'm listening to Jimmie's race radio. Broadcast over the Trackpass thing in real time. Well, about ten seconds delayed, but that's not bad at all. Very interesting listening to them talk about the car's setup. They're making final prep for a run at the lead.
Update 5:23PM: Jimmie's in second. Caution out though. Darn.
Update: Jimmie wins! He's now second in the points standings only something like 18 points back with one race to go. Wow! Next Sunday is big!
