Well, It's Sunny
It's sunny out. A little cooler today. But sunny.
Update 8:57AM: Heather reads the site and exclaims "Rat! You ate my Big Red gum!"
Update 8:59AM: Got a call from Orlando this morning. We're trying to limit the file size of Tomcat's stdout.log file. Got an email in to the community.
Update 9:05PM: Via RSS feeds: "The [next] iPod mini did get a bump up to 6GB, an improved battery life of up to 18 hours" That's nice because my iPods generally peter out on long workout days... especially in the cold where the battery is less efficient. The 18 advertised hours likely means 12 or 13, which gets me at least a day's long workout.
Update 9:29AM: Quote sent by email from father: "Enthusiasm is one of the most powerful engines of success. When you do a thing, do it with all your might. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson"
Update 10:08AM: Ate some eeg beaters and low(er) fat bacon. And a banana. About 400 calories and I'm full for now.
Update 10:09AM: iPod is dropping the gold color. This is an excellent example of how consumers have the power. We didn't buy the gold iPod so they looked at the numbers and discontinued. Fits in with my little rant on the google toolbar content modification.
Update 12:12PM: The connection pooling code without JNDI is annoying me. It works on a few local instances but not on the production server. I'm back and forth with it. May have to take joereger.com down for a while to debug, which I hate doing. Although I may be able to install it on a subdirectory.
Update 12:33PM: I took joereger.com down for a few minutes... just long enough to deploy the non-JNDI version of the code. And it's now working! WTF? It looks like a conflict when trying to run two instances of the connection pool on two catalina instances of one Tomcat installation. Good news is that now I should be able to attempt to duplicate this locally for faster debugging.
Update 12:58PM: Put on some WhiteStrips to counteract the recent interest in coffee.
Update 1:02PM: Got the local duplicate instance just about setup, but haven't been able to duplicate the error yet.
Update 1:06PM: Damn. Two instances locally, but they work. I was hoping to see the bug reproduced.
Update 3:37PM: I think I figured it out. I call a shutDownPool() method which should be shutting down one instance's pool. But it looks like it's actually shutting down both pools. Which is bad, but there's a workaround. I'm doing the build packaging right now. Hoping for the best.
Update 4:07PM: I just realized that I went to bed at 3:00AM, got up before 8:00AM. And I have workouts scheduled from 6:00PM - 9:00PM. I'm gonna be tired when I get home.
Update 4:08PM: Waiting on the build to upload. I'll deploy in about three minutes. Fingers crossed.
Update 4:26PM: It didn't work. Dammit. Still some sort of collission between the loading drivers.
Update 5:45PM: So that was my work day. Didn't get done as much as I needed to. But then I never do. No progress on the actual codebase. No progress on the business development front. No progress on the task at hand... it's still hosed. Probably time to cut my losses tomorrow and hibernate the project for a few weeks until either it's a high priority or I have some free time. Yeah, right. I'm getting ready to head into the gym for some swimming and pilates.
