Late Night Working on /biz/ Site

Where does the time go? It's 3:06AM. I started working at about 4:15PM, yesterday. Heather was here from then until 7:30PM so I wasn't 100% on it for a couple hours. But since 8:00PM, when she went out with Julie, Robin, Angie and others, I don't think I've left the computer. That's seven hours! Heather went to dinner, went to a club or two, went to the Sundial and came back!

I was working on the business marketing section for reger.com. Not as rich in imagery and diagram as I'd like it to be, but it's a start. Added the What is dataBlogging section that has some screenshots. Also added the knowledge management section. Added a few industries, although I can't say that I'm yet making a compelling case for each industry. This isn't because there's not a compelling case to be made... it's just that I'm tired right now and will need to hit it again fresh soon. Or get some help on it.

Content creation is a bitch. If content creation was cast in a movie it would be played by Glen Close a'la Fatal Attraction.

I had to write the business section as an optional module. Clients may not want to have the business tab on their sites so I have them the ability to turn it off. Not too hard to do.

I've been living on Balance Bar Nutrition Bars for the last few hours. Probably went over my calorie budget, but I did get a lot done. Yeah, I'm at 2600 kCals for the day. Bugger.

Was considering the tri-atlanta.org time trial tomorrow (well, today). Short 10 mile ride, but it's at 9:00AM and it's south of the city at Silk Sheets. Little chance I'll make it to it seeing as I'd have to leave in a matter of a few hours. But I will ride mid-long on the Comet. Hoping for another 80 miles. Should be wonderful weather. Just hoping that I can roll out of bed at a reasonable hour to get the ride under my belt before NASCAR comes on.

Right now I'm waiting for the build to finish uploading so that I can launch it. Got about 15 minutes left. I think I'll do something like pee. Or wash up for bed.

Update 3:19AM: Wow... there it is. The relief. I get into this zone for hours on end. Just driven by adrenaline. It's like I'm in a movie on fast-forward. The hours tick by. I watch the clock... it's always there on the lower right hand side of the screen. I know the hours are moving by but it doesn't seem like real time.

Then I finish something. And things slow down. But instead of crashing I feel perfectly lucid and awake. Rewarded in some way by the work just done. I'll probably go downstairs and watch a documentary on volcanoes or something. In a way it's annoying because sleep is the logical thing to do. But I know myself and I know that sleep is probably out of the question for a couple more hours while I come down off of this work buzz.

If I did go to sleep I'd toss and turn, thinking about things. It's like my mind has been released... and in a way it was. For seven hours it was in the throes of some sort of work compulsion. Now it can think about stuff like having to pee, what I'm doing tomorrow, etc.

Still got another eight minutes before the build is done uploading. The Hibernate libraries threw about 3Mb onto each WAR file. Got two to upload. Uploading is so slow, even with the DSL line upgraded to Bellsouth's Extreme service. Oh, well.

I'm starting to like the new mouse I got yesterday. At first it was just different. Not different better. Just different. As I've gotten used to it I'm starting to believe that it's different better. We'll see.

Update 3:37AM: It's up and running. The /biz/ site. Yeah. Had one small burp with the code but corrected it and all seems to be well now. I feel good about getting it out there. Like I've said, creating content is a bitch.

Update 4:03AM: Ok, just about ready to relax. I wanted to tie off the loose ends before I did. Documented what I did in the issue/bug tracker. Sent an email to those involved in the selling of reger.com explaining the new /biz/ site. Also found a typo and removed it from the site. And I just remembered a bug I found while I was testing that I never recorded. But soon I'll be relaxing.

Update 4:08AM: Ooooh... see, here's the tricky part. I'm awake. So I gawk the new stuff. And as I do I think of improvements and start to work on them. Dangerous. Must... get... away... from... computer.
