Web site sued for supporting mall Always-On Panopticon...or Cooperation Amplifier Posted by Bryan at 07:25 AM
A key aspect of social reputation is the desire to control one's own. In a twist to the usual story of a critical website legally challenged by its target, a Texas man is being sued for creating what amounts to a fan website.
I do not believe that The Shops at Willow Bend (an impressive new shopping mall in Plano, Texas) actually sucks. In fact, I'm a great fan of The Shops at Willow Bend...
Unfortunately, the law firm of Gifford, Krass, Groh, Sprinkle, Anderson & Citkowski does suck, as does the Taubman Company, which has decided to drag me into court.
I'm not even remotely surprised. Corporations fear anything they can't control. My ex-employer threatened me when I posted a positive hoorah hooray the-project-is-done post on my blog a few years ago. Then they got really mad at me when my posts on their subsidiary showed up in search engines higher than their subsidiary's website. Funny now. Not funny then.
