Undefined Friday 22nd April, 2005

Today is fairly undefined. I believe I have to check my bike into the transition area today. I probably have to eat something every now and then. Other than that, it's fairly undefined. I'll likely take it easy. My father is flying down, but then he's quickly leaving us to see some relatives who live down here.

Heather and Robin are awake. I'm propped up in bed with the notebook doing some surfing/blogging. Sorry to everybody whose messages I haven't gotten to lately.

Update 9:14AM: Trying to get XML files out of the Garmin Forerunner 301 is like trying to pull teeth from a shark. I found this but haven't gotten it working yet. On the 201 apparently there was a simple export option.

Update 10:10AM: Found my results from last year's St. Anthony's Triathlon:
Swim: 28:40
T1: 2:17
Bike: 1:10:15
T2: 1:31
Run: 52:13
Penalty: 2:00
Overall: 2:36:55

Gonna be hard to beat it this year.

Update 10:12AM: Got the gps utility working. Was able to upload and create a map. Nice!

Had some breakfast. Oatmeal and peaches. In the hotel.

Update 10:18AM: Looks like Heather, Robin and Ball are heading to the beach. I'm probably gonna stick around the hotel and read/work/relax. As it turns out I can check in tomorrow or today. Maybe I'll walk down to get my race packet today and then check my bike in tomorrow. I know that Vanessa, Anna, Joel and others are looking to get together at high noon tomorrow.

Update 10:23AM: Just saw that my start wave goes off 8 minutes after the pro women and ten minutes after the pro men. If my name was A-L I'd be going off three minutes after the pro women and eight minutes after the pro men. Interesting. So I won't have any older folk to pass like I did last year. Nothing but a constant ass kicking for me tomorrow. I'll get settled into a zone with others in my age group of the same speed quickly. But then we'll get overtaken by faster folks from other age groups. Ouch. At least last year I had a lot of people that I could pass. Should be interesting.

Update 10:28AM: They keep revising the temp down... so it looks like heat won't be a problem tomorrow. And especially so now that I know I'm heading out in an early wave.

Update 11:28AM: Grabbed some decaf and sat on the porch for a while. Nice day. Relaxing. I saw Beep, Ball, Heather and Robin off to the beach. Read the newspaper.

Jodi's here. Showed up a couple minutes ago.

Update 11:51AM: Ok, did a few core exercises in the hotel room. And I used my roller to stretch the old IT band. I'm thinking about putting on my running shoes and heading to the park to get registered. Light run with a few intervals in there. Nothing big, but my body doesn't seem to do well with tapers. I want to keep the blood flowing.

Update 6:23PM: Short run. Registered. Ran back. Father was here. Grabbed some stuff and headed to the beach. Swam in the wetsuit. Flew a kite. Drove around a bit. Back at the hotel now.
