Florida Friday May 6th, 2005

We're in Destin. Horrible drive down yesterday. Long. Traffic. Rain. Ugly.

But we're here and I'm connected... via a crappy internet connection that I paid $16.95 for to get three days of service. It's wireless. I connected up fairly easily but the download and upload speed is less than a 56k modem. Ugly.

Probably gonna relax today.

Update 4:44PM: Uploaded the wardriving results map from yesterday. Lots of hot spots. I did the same drive four years ago wardriving and got nothing. Same wireless card back then. Lots of progress.

On the patio right now. Father's in town. Heather and the fam are at the pool. I did a swim this morning in the ocean. Nice water. A little sitting by the pool. Ate some eggs and bacon. Talked to Vanessa. Missed the mandatory pre-race meeting... going on now. Typed up a stretegy doc for reger.com. Now I'm going to head down to the pool to relax a bit and then I need to drive to Panama City Beach (40 mins) and register/check in my bike.

Update 4:47PM: I forgot to mention that the internet service isn't sucking any more. It's fairly high speed. Nice.

Update 5:18PM: Ok, back from the pool. It was cool. The clouds and wind came. Heather and Robin have a bet that they'll be ready to go in 20 minutes. I doubt it, but maybe I'll be surprised. They made the bet nine minutes ago. Plan is to go get some italian spaghetti/pizza and then drive to Panama City to check the bike in and get registered for the race.
