Busy Wednesday May 11th, 2005
Gotten a lot done so far this morning. Woke up... that was a stretch. Worked on a very preliminary implementation of Bob Wyman's
Structured Blogging method of sharing activity-specific data for Reger.com. Launching it in a bit as a trial balloon. Moved the new furniture (glider) upstairs. Looks great and Heather loves it.
This afternoon we're going to my mother's promotion. Which reminds me... I need to charge the camera batteries for the big ceremony.
Then I have an Atlanta blogging meeting this evening.
Update 11:30AM: Strike that... no meeting tonight. Which is great! It's tomorrow. I haven't worked out since the race and I need to get some workout in tonight. Perfect! So I'll probably do some light run and weights before pilates. Very psyched. All week I've been annoyed at the fact that I wouldn't be able to work out until Thursday. Good stuff.
Update 12:03PM: New build out. Nothing major. Some prelim XML stuff.
On the phone now trying to change a plane reservation from Colorado to New York City. Not sure what flexibility Travelocity has. I made the original reservation to Toronto about a year ago. Then I rebooked for Colorado. Now I'm trying to get a ticket to New York City. Who knows.
Being on hold sucks. They don't let me do this online. I've logged-in but can't find my reservation... likely because it's been handed off to United Airlines.
Update 12:07PM: Just talked to somebody. Now I'm being transfered to somebody else. Fun. I have to get showered and dressed by 12:45 to head out. Last time I was on with Travelocity it took 30 minutes once I got to the right person to make the reservation. Not looking good for me unless I can shower and get dressed in 8 minutes. Actually, I probably can. But I have to shave which adds a couple minutes to the mix.
Nice day out today. Glad that I made some (little) progress on the XML stuff. Also have to get the proposal going for the folks I met with yesterday. I need some solid, uninterrupted time to work on that. Hopefully this afternoon before the workouts.
Update 12:11PM: Still on hold. I'm likely to hang up in a few minutes.
I did a search on flights to Seattle for the June 23rd conference. About $307. The trip to New York City next week will be $409 or so. I waited too long to make reservations. I'd like to see a chart of the price over time as the date approaches.
Update 12:14PM: Got somebody. Not going well. Can't find the reservation. I've given them names, email addresses, credit card numbers. Now I'm on hold again for "two or three minutes." I'll wait it out for a few and then I'm gonna have to abandon the call.
Update 12:20PM: Abandoned. They couldn't find my reservation. I may just call United Airlines directly.
Update 12:42PM: Showered. Dressed. Waiting on Heather. So I'm now on hold with United Airlines.
Update 4:34PM: Back from a great promotion event. Full entry soon.
So I hop onto the phone with United and they Xxxking hang up on me! I couldn't believe it. I've had bad service. This was rude service. They were concerned about the fact that I only had my name and not a reservation number. So they got snippy and abruptly said "I'm releasing this call." I said that I disagreed and would like more help but they had already hung up. Amazing. I've never had that happen to me before.
Update 4:46PM: On hold again. With United. Slightly nicer customer care rep. I explained that I was hung up on by another operator. She doesn't really care. But magically she was able to help me. We used my phone number to find the reservation. Amazing what happens when people try.
Update 4:50PM: Reservation to New York City next week: done.
Update 12:15AM: Worked out. Ate some dinner. Watched some Scrubs episodes with Terp. Getting a little work done now. Heading to bed momentarily.
