Dave Winer Bashing

Every day I hear new stories of more back-channel bullXxxt. Marc told me a few chilling stories, people saying if you don't attack Dave, we'll attack you. Something seems to be changing now. I'm willing to try coming back to the Bay Area, to try to create new formats, protocols, and processes for working together. But none of this can happen as long as the attacks continue. So if you get an email from someone who says they won't work with you if you work with me, you can point them to this post, and say they ought to have the guts to make a positive contribution, that you've had enough of people cutting good people down. Call the bullies on their cowardice.

And just today I was telling somebody that I have a No Passthrough policy on personal judgements. I'm willing to listen to your tales of woe regarding somebody, but until they do me wrong directly or I witness them doing somebody else wrong I won't hold it against them. No statement on Dave Winer here... just on being a more tolerant person. It's hard to do because humans have a natural pack mentality... it's what's helped us survive for eons. You're either in the pack or outside of it. You naturally accept when somebody you're talking to bashes another person. Be aware of it and do what you can to silently or actively not accept other people's judgements of other people. Ok, I'm off the soap box now.
