Dell XPS M170 Arrives

My shiny new Dell XPS M170 arrived today. Screen = amazing. Desktop app speed = less than hoped for. Game graphics speed = not tested yet. Keyboard = either suck or ok... it'll take some getting used to... it's certainly no Inspiron 7000 keyboard (two Dells ago). I keep hitting the Caps Lock instead of the A key. Tons of crap to uninstall. May start with a fresh Windows XP Media Center 2005 install. Maybe not. Got to get some actual work done right now... more later as I tinker with this beast. Overall = happy.

Update 4:03PM: Wireless g vs. wireless b = speedy.

Update 6:13PM: Still not used to the keyboard. The problem is with the border around it... apparently I used the side of my notebook as a cue for my left pinky... an alignment crutch. With that gone it's now difficult to get thing happening.

Got my work done today a little while ago. Now I'm doing the sometimes-fun often-monotonous task of installing software onto the Dell XPS M170.

First install was World of Warcraft. I bumped it to full resolution, full shading, high detail everything, full antialiasing. It's still got full frame rate and smooth movement. Amazing. Now all I have to do is level up, oh, 45 more times and I'll be getting somewhere. Game really looks nice on this thing.

Update 12:04AM: Actually fell asleep before 4AM. Nice. Was watching a Nova show on PBS but was terribly tired. Awake now. Working on moving Outlook accounts from old to new box. Not yet comfortable with mouse, keyboard or screen ratio on this thing. Expected.

Update 2:19AM: Configure, configure, configure. I'm tired.
