Friday, August 11, 2006 - Pupper to Vet, Errands and Visiting with Baby Knox
Woke up. Got some work done. Headed to the pool for a quick swim. Took pupper to the vet. She's had a bump steadily growing under her left eye for a few days now. It wasn't getting better so it was time to take her to the Tucker Animal Hospital. Vet said it's likely an absessed tooth and gave her some antibiotics. We'll watch her for a week and hopefully the swelling will go down. Also updated her rabies shot. Total bill: $120 and change.
We're heading over to Matt and Kendy's tonight to see baby Knox. We'll bring some mexican food from Don Pablo's so nobody has to cook. Looking forward to seeing little Knox!
Update 4:06PM: Before I head to M&K's I'd like to make it to REI for a water belt... my current one has 28oz which doesn't cut it on the Silver Comet when I run long... so I'm thinking the 40oz model. Also need to make it to the Apple store... my iPod Nano is broken... screen locked... luckily I bought the warranty on it... but i didn't send anything in on it so my guess is that they'll give me a raft of crap before they fix it. I'd like to have these two items before tonight in prep for tomorrow's long workout for the week.
Update 4:10PM: Looking overcast all of a sudden. Afternoon lightning-fest again? I can only hope.
Update 10:05PM: Fueled the minivan... $71. Made it to REI and got a newer, bigger Camelbak for the run tomorrow. Went to the Apple store and was sent away because I didn't have an appointment. WTF? Annoying. Called in an order to Don Pablos and picked it up. Took it to Matt and Kendy's. Held baby Knox for a while. He's so tiny and sich a handsome gentleman! Dinner with everybody was great. We talked baby stuff, not surprisingly. Then I had to split for my 8:50PM Apple Genius Bar appointment. My iPod Nano was hosed so they replaced it with a new one. Can't complain about that. Now I'm home. Spent some time changing Aves and helping Terp get her ready for bed. Now I need to load songs and audiobooks onto the Nano (and charge it) so that I have something to listen to tomorrow.
Long workout... batter up. Looks like it'll be a nice day for it... rainy (translation: not scorching sun with humid heat) and low wind until 2PM or so by which time I should be off the bike and onto the run anyway. Nice!
Update 1:11AM: Went to Kroger. I had forgotten to buy my Ensure drinks which help on the long rides. Easy to digest and full of calories. Made it back and am now not even remotely tired. Getting up for the workout in less than four hours. Won't likely get to bed until 2:30AM or so. I've been using the caffeine drug to wake me up on these workout mornings. Reading a little Outside magazine and watching some Science Channel. iPod loaded and charging. Bike loaded. I'm ready to rock. Just not ready to sleep.
Update 1:18AM: I'm going to try something new. Annotate yesterday's daily post. Each day I have a catch-all post for random blabbering about whatever comes to mind. Like this one. It's where camera phone pics get attached too. But a simple date title is lame even a few days later. What's in that post from "Saturday, June 13, 2004"? So I'm going (to try) to annotate the previous day's post title whenever I create a new one. So, when I create August 12 I'll annotate August 11, as I've already done. In today's case I added space dash space "Pupper to Vet, Errands and Visiting with Baby Knox". This will make search results and expanded calendars and related links more identifiable by their content.
Update 2:25AM: Still up. Dumb, but I'm simply not tired. That cup of coffee is gonna be good... in a couple hours.
