02:24:56 PM: Got a voicemail from Dana saying that Marc's still out on the course (11:30am start), she's finished (8:00am start) and she needs a new helmet. Huh? Sounded like she's ok but now I'm intrigued.
05:10:05 PM: I was having an intermittent love affair with the toilet (painful lower intestine woes again) so Terp recommended some Varsity to lube the pipes and clog the arteries. I had to detour to the wc after ordering and wasn't sure I'd make it home safely. That was a couple hours ago. Still a bit of pain but generally feeling better after eating and watching some nascar and cyclism sunday.
05:11:40 PM: Terp's headed out to vr to pick up bitzel. They'll be back tomorrow evening.
07:36:32 PM: Just talked to Marc. Both he and Dana did very well at their Georgia Cup Race. But another rider wiped Dana out and she landed on her head, breaking her helmet... again. Banged up her knee too.
So maybe her 2007 jersey should say "This End Up", just as a friendly reminder. Haaa... kidding. Chris has gotta be like "seriously honey... another helmet?" Marc said he recommended just buying twenty cheapie helmets!
When she was wrecked she was trying to bridge to the leading breakaway of five. Despite the wreck she fought to get back to the group and finished strong.
Marc signed up for the masters group which he later learned includes all the ex-pros who can't race pro any more but still want to beat up on categorized riders. Ouch. And because he was starting at 11:30 it was hot as hell. There was a heat advisory on weather.com. But he stayed with the lead pack longer than most and parlayed that into a solid finish with some strong riding.
Excellent work you two! Representin' Tucker proud!
Andreas was there, riding in the crit. He placed eighth after trying to break away twice. Strong.
11:58:38 PM: Sweet! Dana got me a
new bike, complete with porta potty! Ah, the solace of duke out time plus the excitement of drafting! Dana also posts a
Gainesville Race Report. Marc's
got one too... a race report that is. Glad you both made it out (mostly) unscathed and had good racin' days!
