New Running Shoes: Saucony Triumph 4
Just got back from
Big Peach Running Co where Luis worked with me to find a new pair of daily runners. Started with pronation via treadmill video. Surprised and glad that I don't have a pronation issue. I can run in neutral shoes. I wore Adidas Supernova Control for years because somebody said I needed pronation control. I loved that model but over the last year they mucked with it a bit too much and it doesn't work for me right now.
I also learned that I have a fairly high arch, meaning some arch support is a good idea. Didn't know this previously.
Mike Cosentino explained how run fit translates to trail fit. Namely that trail shoes have four differentiators: 1) more rugged tread pattern 2) more protective rubber in the toe 3) a rock impact-diffusing material on the bottom of the foot and 4) more abrasion-resistant uppers.
Luis was a great and recommended I try on about ten pairs of shoes. I went in to buy some Asics Gel Numbus VIII (size 12 fit, for future reference) but favored the Saucony Triumph 4. Risk is fairly low as I burn through shoes rapidly. But I would like to finally get back into a solid model that I can just buy without thinking. I have about ten pairs of the addis floating around the house.
Chose the annoying gold and black color. In fact, drove from their Buckhead store to their Marietta store to get the color. What can I say? Me likey the shiny things.
Thanks to Big Peach Running Co for helping me out today!
