Tagged: 8 Random Things
Toby Bloomberg tagged me with an 8 Random Things meme. But really isn’t joereger.com little more than 1000 random things about me? Yeah, I’ve got to get the signal to noise ratio back up. Ok, here goes:
- My first car was a 1985 Old Calais… I drove from Atlanta to Waynesboro, PA nonstop once because it never made my butt hurt. Despite spending embarrassing amounts on vehicles, I’ve never had a seat as comfortable.
- Unlike Toby who hates technology, I have a love-hate relationship with technology. I love what technology can do. And I love the plain geekyness of it. But I also hate its tendency to make life more difficult by breaking down all the time, whether my own technology or technology from others.
- Every night for the last ten-plus years I’ve used a Neutrogena anti-zit product called On-the-Spot. It’s like a little night ritual. When I put it on, I go to sleep. I don’t think it actually does much… but don’t really want to test the theory.
- Every night for the last couple weeks I’ve been taking some of these pro-biotic yogurt products. One for my immune system. One for my digestive system. Seems to help but when combined with my whey protein makes me gassy.
- I’m a fear junkie and have only in the last few years realized it. Yeah, the skydiving and/or rockclimbing should have tipped that hat, eh? I always wanted to be positively motivated and thought that fear-based motivation was for scared people. But the truth is that fear works better for me. I sign up for big races that scare me and jump into business situations that scare me to progress. Because one of my biggest fears is wasting my life.
- I don’t really care much about the environment. It’s not one of my big causes. I only have so much time and when I decide to focus on something I really put my energy (no pun intended) behind it. But the environment has never been one. Despite loving camping and generally being outdoors. This said, I’m glad that guys like Billy V are out there to look out for my interests in what is clearly a huge issue. To be clear… environmentalism good… just not my focus.
- I’m very happy to have friends in my life again. As a kid my family moved every couple years and I lost my friends. As a young adult I was busy with work and Heather and I were rather anti-social. Only in the last few years with triathlon have I gotten back to having friends. Knowing that I’ll know many of these people for many years because I’m not moving is very comforting, exciting and fulfilling.
- I still have the first pair of boxers that I ever bought, about seventeen years ago… Banana Republic brown plaid (yes, they started out brown)… and I still wear them every now and then… but the waist is terribly stretched.
That was fun. Actually, a great way to generate things to blog about. I could expand on a number of those… in fact, I should. So, I now get to tag eight other people:
