Blogosphere at Work: The Daily Headache
I get migraines. For years, and often on this blog, I'll try to correlate the cause to the effect hoping to curb future episodes. As such I frequently seek information about headaches and migraines online.
Not too long ago I found a blog called
The Daily Headache which tracks headache and migraine news.
Here's the power of the blogosphere: I no longer have to go out and seek the latest information. Kerrie Smyers does it for me. And when she finds a piece of information she posts it and analyzes it, putting it into context. For me she's a trusted source.
We hear a lot about how the internet is filled with a bunch of junk. Sites like joereger.com are certainly culprits of low signal-to-noise ratios. But when you look closer you see that one person's notes are a personalized CNN for another. Play my little example with headaches out about twenty million times and you get a sense of what they blogosphere is actually doing... each blogger contributing a little bit as they go.
Pass the ibuprofen, I've got a blog to read.
