Tennis Instructor Shot. Search In Our Back Yard.
A little neighborhood action today. As I left for my 2pm meeting there were 50+ police on site and more converging by the second. News vans. Fire trucks. Which wasn't abnormal until I saw they were sealing off side streets... clearly searching for somebody. I called Heather and told her not to head home until I could finish my meeting and check it out.
Original Article on WSBTV homepage. COBB COUNTY, Ga. -- Cobb County police searched Tuesday for the man who shot a tennis instructor and tied up several others inside his home during an apparent home invasion. Cobb County police said the armed home invader tried to tie up all the people inside the home on Nickajack Road in Mableton, but as he left to apparently rob the place, one man was able to get loose and go for a gun of his own.
This is happening less than 1/4 mile from our house, as the crow flies. See the attached map.
Heather, of course, ignored me and headed home. Our house is the first house seen by somebody traveling down the path on the other side of the creek (or in the creek itself.) Now I'm probably gonna send her back to her parents' house.
As the helicopters hovered directly over the house I stood out on the deck, flashed the peace sign and snapped some photos. The pilot was about 35 feet away from me. Let him know I didn't see anything from my vantage point.
