The upgrade is done. Three more weeks of night-time and weekend code is running Qlogger.com.
The latest changes were an upgrade to the template engine that I launched a month ago. Massive changes were made in that build to separate all screen output and business logic into self-contained functions.
The build today refined the screen-level output by removing table background colors, font colors and giving control to client- side css stylesheets.
The downside of such massive changes is that I had to reset many user templates to one of the defaults. I tried and tried to avoid it, but in the end a move forward for the architecture demanded it.
The new engine has a much cleaner separation of front-end from back-end. This allows everybody to create their own crazy templates and really control the way that their site looks.
In addition to the new engine I launched 32 new templates! Yeah, 32. Lots work.
It's 1:24PM. I've been working on qlogger since 7:00AM. I've been very tense all day. I've been implementing the build plan below.
It's good to have the build out of the way. Now I have to monitor the server for crashes and listen to what users have to say about the new changes.
It's happy hour somewhere in the world... who wants a beer?
