Spinning Class with Nose Bleed
Spinning class was going well for the first 35 minutes.
Vanessa was instructing. Paul was joking. Keith was
digging in. Heather was working it. I was sweating like a
mofo and then all of a sudden I was bleeding. Big massive
blood coming out of my nose. Only a couple drops made it to
the floor. But they were big nasty drops. I caught the
rest with a white/soon to be red towel.
Not happy about this. A little surprised. Haven't gotten a
nose bleed in years. Probably has something to do with the
lack of humidity. Maybe something diet-based. It happened
when I was leaning over the handle bars and my head was
lower than my heart... too much pressure on the nasal
passages? Who knows.
I didn't miss a single turn on the bike though. It was
tough. The nose bleed kept going for about ten minutes. I
had to breathe hard without my nose. A few times I thought
it had stopped but it re-started. And even after it stopped
I had to keep my head pointed up. But I kept my heart rate
elevated until the end. Blood or not.
Of course I was sensitive to the concerns of people around
me. I made sure I wasn't flinging blood all over the
place... which probably wouldn't have been very PC.
