10 Mile Run, Weights and 50 Min Spinning. Heat Training Begins.

I feel great. Maybe too great this far out from the early season races. I ran ten miles. Did some weights. And then did a spinning class in a sweatshirt. Unlike earlier this year when I felt dead after workouts, I now feel alive and ready for more. It's a great feeling, but it may indicate a peak is happening too soon in the season. I was planning on two peaks for the season. One for St. Anthony's and the Gulf Coast Half Ironman. And then I was going to take it easy for Ironman Lake Placid, leading into some late season races and another peak at Ironman Florida. I made the mistake last year of peaking too soon and trying to maintain it for way too long. So I need to slow down a bit. Tomorrow some swimming and a slower outside run maybe.

Heat training started today. I'm going to wear an extra layer or two on workouts to get my body ready for the heat of Florida. Last year I blew the kitten by not being ready for the heat.

I sweat like crazy. So far since starting the workout I've had six liters of water, and I'm still not peeing yet. Three during. One immediately after. One sipped with dinner. And one while watching tv/writing this (I'm in the den with the notebook). Heat training sucks. Heart rate way too high. Dehydration. But it's important.

Vanessa put on a great class. She called it her beginner's class, but they're all good to me. Kept my heart rate nice and high throughout.
