Silk Sheets Ride
Woke up at 6AM this morning and headed to Starbucks to meet Vanessa, Keith, Anna and Dana. We all got something to drink and lamented the weather, but decided to drive on.
We caravaned to the Quick Trip on Fulton Industrial off of I-20 for some pre-planned coffee-induced duke outs. On the way over we hit a patch of heavy rain. Vanessa had been up for a number of days with her father in the hospital so she opted out of the ride, which was the right decision... she needed some sleep.
The rest of us met Dave at the start of the Silk Sheets ride. It was drizzly and rainy as we started but we warmed up quickly. I love riding in the rain. Absolutely love it.
I hung out at the back of the pack and enjoyed the scenery. Keith came back to save a couple turtles who had wandered onto the road.
After an hour or so we took some pit stops and the hilarity began. It didn't stop until the end of the ride. Fun day. Good ride.
Eventually it cleared up and even got rather muggy and hot. It's a good course with a nice mix of hills and flats. You could pretty much do whatever workout you wanted out there. Well-marked too.
Good riding with everybody.
