80 Miles: Comet Plus Partial Taylorsville Loop
06:24:17 AM: Up and dressed. Minivan getting packed. Meeting Marc, Dana and possibly Matthew at Panera's at 7am for a bagel.
06:56:25 AM: At Panera waiting for it to open. I thought better about one of my layers and completely stripped down to a topless joe in the 27 degree parking lot. I feel better about my base layer now.
03:38:32 PM: A long, hard 80 miles. Wouldn't have made it without the group support from Marc and Dana. Great loops out at the end of the Comet, heading up into northwest georgia. Very well marked. Smooth roads. Some hills. Some flats. Damn... as Marc proclaimed "why haven't we heard of these rides before?" I agree and look forward to making it back out. Today I forgot to bring nutrition. Brought an empty water bottle. Refilled at a gas station with Gatorade and then left it at the gas station. Bonked. It was a rough one but we rallied as a group and made a miserable ride into a pretty darn good adventure. Need to get cleaned up and then I'll add some notes.
