45 Min Swim, 1 Hr Bike, 15 Min Run
Went too hard today. Need to dial it back. Comet was a lot busier than it is in the afternoons. Proof that humans are intelligent beings. I got into racing and passing and shooting my heart rate through the roof. Swim was weak... actually did take it easy... some rests... a session in el hot tub. Then some sprints. Run was short and quick.
Encouraged that the feeling of progress has happened so quickly... one week of consistency has me able to get the heart rate up and turn over the pedals. The numbers say I'm not that fit... power output and average pace (20.3 for this ride)... but it's feeling better... not the Lance-ian "rusty pain" any more. The good "I'm working out" pain.
Incidentally, need to post at some point on the fact that hard workouts have mapped themselves in my head to a negative thing. So many years talking base workouts that when I do go hard I think I've hosed myself. Need to correct this attitude. It's a balance. There are macro cycles. Now isn't a bad time to start mixing a week of harder stuff in there. Just don't tell Gordo.
