1hr Swim, 1hr30min Bike
I was not up for this workout. But I turned it around and into a rather good effort. Planned a 30 min swim but just kept going for an hour. No rests, solid effort throughout. I figured that with sore legs and my general exhaustion I'd be able to turn 2.5 hrs easier with more pool time. Rode tonight... topless. Highly recommended... for women... with aerobars (all the guys are with me on this one).
Started comfortably and it didn't feel as bad as I figured it would. Then passed a group and somebody jumped on my wheel so I bumped the pace up slowly for the next five miles or so. Made for a very solid segment midway through the workout. High 160's. Even near the end of the ride I was able to output some decent power and not feel horrible. My pace still isn't where I'd like it to be but it's hot out (96 at start today) and I've got some very good consistency going... this is my 11th day in a row. Cumulative fatigue is there but manageable so far.
Starting to feel some worry about adding a bigger workout into the mix this weekend. This consistency is great and is working for me. Paul C was talking about bike-only. That may be the ticket. If I do 5 hrs total I buy myself a rest day Sunday and then I jump back into the daily consistency on Monday. It's not over the top. It's not epic. It's got to be a process to add volume *and* retain consistency... what I intended to do much earlier in the season. Patience, patience, patience.
And yes, I'm ten minutes short of 2.5hrs today... but I had 20min in the bank after yesterday's death march on the surface of the sun.
