30 Min Swim, 4 Mi Run, 30 Min Bike, 7 Mi Run



Average to lame pool session. Except for the blond in the bikini. Or maybe because of. Is that really considered a bathing suit these days? Me likey.

Mini weight session. Core and back mostly. Abs feeling somewhat whupped after the decline bench and 25lb weight situps a couple days ago.

Interval session on the treadmill for foot turnover. Five minute cycles that included a minute of 9mph and a minute of 10mph, back to back in that order. Had room for more (intensity and time) but didn't want to push too hard today.

Easy bike of 30 min. Just wanted to get back onto a wheeled form of human-powered transport. Bike legs not feeling great, although Dana will nail me for sniveling. Probably just fatigue from the run yesterday and muscles that haven't been hit in a week.

Second run of 7 mi. Really enjoying having the foot turnover again. How did I run all season without it? I was like a lumbering tree. I need to keep a treadmill session as part of my base fitness package.

Nice and cool out today. Chilly even. Windy. Clear and sunny. Wonderful.

How'm I feeling? Motivation is high on the overall plan but low on the detail plan. Of course, only the detail plan matters because that's where the rubber meets the road. I've only got another ten or so solid training days left before taper. And I'm actually looking forward to taper this year... I feel like I've got a decent recipe for myself. I'm realizing that it's very hard to determine how fit I actually am. There are simply too many components... strength, speed, endurance, economy, etc. And who knows what race day will bring. At this point I just need to be smart about the remaining workouts... get the quality in. Taper. And then go race. Not worth worrying too much about. Control what I can, leave the rest.
