90 Min CompuTrainer Workout
Being the weekend I thought I should do something bigger than the average weekday workout. So I took a couple of my 60 min CompuTrainer workouts, combined them and added 30 minutes. 3 min intervals up front on 2 min rest. Moving from 200 to 240 watts. Then 30 min of sawtooths from 200 to 250 watts. The second 30 min was a bit easier than the first. But the last 30 min almost killed me. I put the intervals and sawtooths together. But I shortened the intervals and increased the wattage. First interval was at 250 watts and then I added 25 watts every 5 min all the way up to 375 watts. The problem is that I didn't lower the sawtooths enough to make for any recovery between intervals. And at 1:30 the intervals were still too long for that wattage... I should have done 1 min intervals. With 20 minutes to go I was "resting" at 162bpm and peaking around 180bpm. It was hurting. I stayed in the saddle for the first four big intervals and half of the fifth. But I had to get out of the saddle at 375 watts. Well, I did hold cadence with 375 watts for about 20 seconds. Afterwards I got off the bike, walked into the kitchen and abruptly barfed into the trash can. Heather's response "ohhh, take that outside!" Bitzel then said "DooDa taking outside." Good workout... although a little harder than I had anticipated. Barfing was the result of a too-strong Gatorade powder mix and some pretty high heart rates. I was pumping a lot of fluids and when I got off the bike my pulse caved and I barfed. It happens. Average power at 202 watts. Average heart rate at 154bpm.
