1 Hr Swim, 112 Mile Bike, 5 Mile Run: Saddle Pain Redux
05:38:59 AM: At the pool. Narrative for the day centers on my uncertaintity about the knee. Weather looks forgiving. Got the audiobook loaded and ready to roll.
08:15:28 AM: Lots of seat adjustment stops. I predict that I won't be able to pee without pain very soon. Frustrated that I didn't fix the seat, stuck rear brake or sticky bar-end tape. Otherwise, just cruising, taking it easy right now. Knee feels fine.
08:16:40 AM: Forgot... swim was slightly less spectacular without the stars... cloudy today. Although as I say that I'm seeing more blue sky than I'd like.
11:32:34 AM: At halfway point of bike, 56 miles. Bad decision to ride this seat again. It'll go up on eBay by the end of the weekend. Taking it easy today.
03:40:18 PM: Bike done. 112 miles. Saddle miserable. Arse junk thrashed.
Update: I really didn't want to do the run. I was in that groggy mode for second-to-last hour of the bike. I wanted so much to just hammer and be done but I resisted and ended up with 6:18 on the bike, nice and slow. Average hr of 117 bpm for the whole ride.
But I did go out on a run. And some dude stepped up and passed me. So I tailed him for 2.5 miles until my turnaround. Really helped me simulate a race... the pace was just right. The run felt great, my legs had plenty of elasticity.
On the return I slowly increased intensity and ended strong. Overall very happy with the run and the workout. Not very happy with the saddle.
