30 Min Bike, 15 Min Run



It's a Sunday. I spent all day thinking about people working out. Marc and the Airport Ride. Dana hitting the comet. Heather and Rusty going for a run. The nyc marathon.

But working out wasn't the logical thing to do. I'm on my final day of antibiotics. Not a good time to add any stress to my immune system. And given the timing, of course, I think my throat is on fire. It's probably just in my head but I should be letting my body rest.

On the other hand, seven days until the race and my taper has been crap. No high intensity stuff because of the cold. This season's end has been a comedy of errors and I just want to play catchup. I feel like the pieces are there... I've just missed out on the polish.

Finally I couldn't take it. The bike was already on the trainer in the upstairs bathroom (where else to check my aero position?) I went for some 'easy' spins. Which turned into harder spins until I was doing a real workout. Had the presence of mind to stop at 30 minutes.

And then get onto the treadmill for 15 minutes. Last run I had felt horrible. This wasn't too bad. I took it slowly with 8:30's. Just a couple of 'em.

Tomorrow in the am I'll know whether this helped or hurt me. Fingers crossed.
