20 Min Swim, Weights



Second workout back at it. One word: muscle soreness.

I'm honored that many of my friends and family ask me for advice as they start to get into a workout program. I always tell them that the second through seventh days are the hardest. Of course, I haven't had the, uh, pleasure of experiencing this effect for about six years now. Even though I've had down periods it's not like they were very long.

I could feel every single muscle in the pool this morning. I knew that if I stopped I'd not likely restart. So I pushed through 20 minutes nonstop. Not exactly a banner accomplishment but it's more than I did yesterday so I'll take it.

After that I did some weights. I struggle to get through what used to be my baseline morning weights workout. I keep thinking about running. Maybe I'll take a week or two with just swim and weights. Get the core somewhat stronger and ease into the aerobic thing. I'm not in any rush.
