What's so odd is that I'm not working out but my body is hurting more and more. It feels like it's falling apart. My hope had been that a few easy weeks after the long race would give my body time to rebuild and repair the small aches and pains from the season. What's happening right now is counterintuitive.
But it shouldn't be. It all makes sense.
I'm falling out of shape. My motivation is low because I don't have an immediately looming goal. My core muscles are weak... they lose strength on me immediately. A few days without crunches and I feel the lack of support. Without the daily running and biking, my legs have been getting tighter and tighter. No stretching. So when I do run the tendons are tighter than they have been in months. After the race I ate like a mofo and threw some poundage on. And then I took it off.
Add it all up and you get where I am now.
This sucks.
So, I've got to go back to what I usually rely on... routine. Stretching has to become more routine. Core strength must become a priority. And then some basic workouts. It'll all turn around. It always does.
