Slower than a month ago. What's the issue? Had two days of rest after a fairly consistent but hard three weeks. Hmmmm. Core strength is low right now. Haven't really been pulling the mileage on the run that I was before my mid-season run target. Maybe nothing to worry about... I'll keep my eye on it.

Legs felt good but splits weren't what I had expected. Did this after a day of rest. Did two eight minute ab sessions just prior. Did 1.2 miles as warmup instead of a short 2-3 minute jog like last time. May have held heart rate a little lower than last time.

First time doing this benchmark. My legs were rather sore going into this. But they loosened up. It was humid but not terribly warm compared with recent weather. I'm carrying an extra 5 lbs right now (167 lbs).

This log is used to track a run benchmark done on the Silver Comet from mile zero to mile three. I warm up by running for five minutes to get my heart comfortably to 150bpm. Then I start at mile zero and run for three miles, holding my heart rate at 150bpm. My mile split times tell the story. Mile one is a gentle downhill slope. Mile two is a good mix of gentle uphill and downhill. Mile three is a gentle uphill. It's a good benchmark because I can do it when exhausted and when not terribly motivated. I can always get my heart rate up to 150 bpm. It's a no-brainer that gives me a good sense of my aerobic run status.
